Stuart Farb Memorial Hockey Game

Stuart Farb Hockey Game

January 14, 2017 @10:00 PM Thornhill Community Centre Hockey Arena 7755 Bayview Ave, Markham, ON L3T 4P1

Stuart Farb’s family and friends are taking to the ice to play in memory of Stuart, and to raise funds for Reena Foundation.

For years, Stuart Farb, his sons Guy and Philip, and a group of friends got together late Saturday nights to play hockey. It wasn't competitive, just a way for everyone to get together and have a good time. Stuart passed away on January 9, 2012, leaving a void in the family and the circle of friends. The games are still being played but Stuart is sorely missed.

In honour of their father, Stuart's children Guy, Jody and Philip have arranged the annual charity hockey game. Now in its 5th year, all of the regulars will again be there, playing for Stuart and for the Rebecca Farb Endowment Fund that the family formed through Reena Foundation. This fund helps support individuals with developmental disabilities at Reena.

To support the event please visit the Stuart Farb Memorial Hockey Game Website or call (905) 763.8254 x3631.

Reena #HEW2016 Event is November 3

Reena has been chosen as a host site for Holocaust Education Week (#HEW2016).

Join us at Reena Community Residence (49 Lebovic Campus Drive) on November 3, 2016 at 7:00 pm for a presentation on: Aktion T4 – the Nazi “Euthanasia” Program.

This interactive session teaches how a government used the medical establishment, bolstered by propaganda and legislation, to convince its population that some people were "unworthy of living." It will link memories of the past with current experiences and atrocities. Framed as a euthanasia program, Aktion T4 was a Nazi initiative that identified and exterminated people with mental, physical and developmental disabilities at killing centres, which were a precursor to the death camps.
