TRILLIUM
recognizes Reena as a leader in the care of seniors with a developmental disability

It is with great pleasure that Reena announces that The Ontario Trillium Foundation recognizes the agency as a leader in linking developmental disabilities and long term care with a grant of almost $500,000. To be paid over a period of five years, this grant is in response to a proposal made by Reena and the Ontario Aging and Developmental Disabilities Collaborative. The ADD project began in 1999 when Health Canada sponsored a symposium on Aging and Developmental Disabilities in Toronto. The symposium identified the need for both sectors to work together to ensure that aging adults with a developmental disability receive the necessary supports regardless of which sector was providing service.
Since that time, Reena worked closely with the four provincial associations who make up the ADD Project Collaborative. One key result was that four regions in Ontario conducted capacity-building workshops from which tangible local or regional initiatives grew. The new funding will allow us to identify opportunities for service system improvement; facilitate communication and co-operation among Ontario's developmental services and long-term care providers; sponsor and lead 12 regional workshops across Ontario.
Reena's Strategic Visions states:

''Reena of the Year 2015 has consistently played a leadership/advocacy role in promoting the enhancement of supports for people with developmental disabilities and the renewal of those supports.''

The ADD Project supported by The Ontario Trillium Foundation will allow us to carry through this vision.

Since 1973, Reena has been developing and providing community services for people who have a developmental disability. During that time, the agency has gained a well-deserved reputation for service innovation.

What makes Reena truly unique is the emphasis on providing Judaic programming and a Jewish environment for its clients, enabling them to develop spiritually and feel a connection and sense of belonging to their roots, culture and community.

Reena also encourages the expression of everyone's culture and religious roots, regardless of background or denomination.
