Renewable energy comes from natural sources that replace themselves more quickly than they are consumed. Sunlight, for example, is a source that is constantly being replenished. Solar energy is the most abundant of all energy resources and can even be harnessed in cloudy weather.
Keeping in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, one of the three GReena initiatives is the focus on renewable energy.
Three of Reena’s group home locations have been sending solar energy to the Ontario Power Grid since early 2010. That solar energy is being sold and has been generating monthly revenue to Reena over the last 10 years, allowing us to reduce our operational costs.
With the GReena initiative now in play, we are looking at where Reena can expand its solar capability within the organization.
In recognizing the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), GReena is answering the call to promote prosperity whilst protecting our planet by implementing the UN SDG goals.
